UK-based global refrigeration specialist Husky is to target a multi-million pound sector of the National Health Service with a specially adapted version of its hugely successful SS1 chiller unit.
The initiative sees Husky appointing its new global collaborator AHT as exclusive UK distributor of the SS1, which will soon be launched into the specialist medical sector.
Runaway sales to the catering trade have established the unit as one of the most popular refrigerators of its type on the market, based on performance, reliability and durability.
Those features will also set it apart in the health sector, where both the NHS and private health practitioners will be targeted next year.
The unit is designed to ensure the safe storage of a wide range of vaccines which cost the NHS hundreds of millions of pounds each year, and which must be stored in precise temperatures to ensure they are ready for use at short notice.
Husky’s decision to appoint AHT to the distributorship gives it greater control over domestic sales, which continue to run at an impressively high level.
To meet demand for the units, urgent instructions have been issued to Husky’s state-of-the-art factory in China to crank up production of the SS1 and begin production of the vaccine version.
Geoff Thomasson, chief executive of the Husky team of companies said: “The SS1 has always been a winner with the catering trade and we believe we will enjoy similar success with the medical version.
“The potential market is enormous – not just with the NHS but with private hospitals and medical practices as well.”
